AMFRA - the Arkansas Military & First Responder Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school with a STEM focus and college preparatory emphasis.
AMFRA is the first school in Arkansas (and only the 11th school nationwide) to have a 100% student participation in the JROTC program. Every student will be part of the Marine Corps JROTC program. Central to the school’s mission is also the First Responder curriculum.
Each student will receive personalized guidance and an excellent education to pursue the college and/or career path they desire.
Yes! AMFRA offers a rigorous STEM-focused College Preparatory school. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Students will receive college and career guidance from their 9th grade year all the way through graduation. There are also specialized tracks in Computer Science (including Cybersecurity) and Pre-Engineering.
Any incoming 9th grader (current 8th grader) can apply to AMFRA.

No. AMFRA is a public charter school that is similar to other high schools in that it has a school day that runs from approximately 7:45 to 4:00 each weekday (Monday through Friday).

AMFRA is opening in August with 140 students who will be in the 9th grade. Each year, another cohort of 9th graders will be added, and a grade will be added. In 2023-24, there will only be a 9th grade class. In 2024-25, there will be
a 9th grade and a 10th grade class. In 2025-26, there will be 9th, 10th, and 11th grade; and in 2026-27, we will graduate our first senior class. At full capacity, AMFRA will maintain a cap of approximately 560 students.
Yes! AMFRA will field competitive teams in boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, wrestling, volleyball, cross-country, and robotics. AMFRA will have several extracurricular clubs as well - chess, coding, and other teacher-sponsored groups.
